For orders over €40.00 to these countries, shipping will be free.

What are Cleaning Capsules for?
Unlike descaling products that act on limescale, cleaning tablets are used to degrease the part of the machine where the coffee passes. During brewing, the beans release oils and fats that, if not removed, tend to go rancid, altering the flavor of the beverage and creating an ideal environment for the formation of mold or bacteria. Consistent use of these tabs ensures that every cup is aromatic and free from unpleasant aftertastes.
Symptoms and Diagnosis (Q&A)
QUESTION: Why has the taste of the coffee changed recently?
ANSWER: If you are using the same coffee blend, it is likely that something has changed in your coffee machine. Try performing a thorough cleaning of your appliance using both the descaler and the degreasing tablets. The most common reason for bad coffee taste is the formation of mold and rancid deposits that are carried into your cup. Besides being unhealthy to ingest, they alter the good taste of your coffee.
QUESTION: Can I use them on any coffee machine?
ANSWER: Theoretically yes, they are designed to be used primarily on those coffee machines that support the degreasing cleaning cycle, but with a bit of ingenuity, you can use them on practically any appliance.
Instructions for Use
To correctly use the Melitta 6785262 tablets in your bean-to-cup coffee machine, follow these steps (always consult your machine's manual):
1. Start the automatic cleaning program from the machine's menu.
2. When prompted, insert a single tablet into the ground coffee compartment (or directly into the brew group if specified).
3. Wait for the complete cycle to finish.
4. If your machine does not have a powder compartment, dissolve the tablet in hot water and soak the brew group (only for machines with a removable group) for about 30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
If you have a portafilter coffee machine:
1. Insert the portafilter with the filter (without putting anything inside) that you want to clean into the coffee machine.
2. After the machine has reached temperature, dispense water to remove the most significant residues.
3. Remove the portafilter, insert a degreasing tablet inside the filter, and put the portafilter back into the machine.
4. Dispense water for 30 seconds, pause for 2 minutes, dispense water again for another 30 seconds, pause for another 2 minutes, and repeat until the tablet is completely dissolved inside the filter.
5. At the end, clean the portafilter and filter under running water.
If you have a capsule coffee machine:
1. If you do not have a reusable capsule or a cleaning accessory, use a used capsule.
2. Remove the coffee from inside ensuring it is well cleaned, insert the cleaning tablet, and seal it with an aluminum tab. You can also use the old tab if it is not too damaged; by heating the edges, you should be able to reattach it.
3. Insert the capsule and dispense water until all the water in the tank is used up.
4. At the end, rinse with clean water.
If you have a pod coffee machine:
1. Close the lever without inserting any pod into the pod holder.
2. Heat the machine well until it reaches temperature, then dispense water to remove the larger residues and sediments.
3. Open the lever, insert a capsule in the center of the pod holder filter, and close the lever.
4. The pressure of the lever should be able to crush the tablet; if not, break it and insert the remnants above the pod holder filter.
5. Dispense water until there are no more tablet residues in the pod holder.
6. At the end, rinse the components under running water.
Expert Maintenance Tips
Caution: Never confuse cleaning tablets with descaling tablets! They have different chemical compositions and opposite purposes. To extend the product's lifespan, store the package in a moisture-free place, as moisture may cause the tablets to crumble or activate prematurely. We recommend cleaning the brew group or filters under running water (without soap) once a week and using the cleaning tablet whenever the machine requires it or approximately every 200 coffees.
