Collection: Batteries
Check the voltage (V), capacity (mAh/Ah) and the code on the battery to be replaced before purchasing. If you have any doubts, send us a photo of the battery label or the appliance.
Guide to choosing and caring for appliance batteries
Available models and voltages
This collection covers two main families of batteries. Below are the appliances and available voltages:
How to choose the correct battery
- Exact brand and model: the code is found on the product label; even similar models in the same series may have different connectors or voltages.
- Nominal voltage (V): must be identical to the original; a different voltage can damage both the battery and the appliance.
- Capacity (mAh or Ah): a capacity equal to or greater than the original ensures at least equivalent runtime; never use a battery with lower capacity.
- Technology (Li-Ion or NiMH): they are not interchangeable — they require different charging circuits. Li-Ion cells have voltages of 3.6–3.7 V; NiMH cells have 1.2 V.
- Battery code: if visible on the label (e.g. UR14500AC, HJC1901-1, ZR009703), it is the most reliable data for identifying the exact replacement.
Maintenance and best practices
- Do not leave Li-Ion batteries completely discharged for long: repeated total discharge irreversibly reduces cell capacity.
- Do not expose the appliance to high temperatures during charging; heat accelerates degradation, especially in Li-Ion batteries.
- For NiMH (shavers, graters), perform full discharge cycles followed by full recharge every 2–3 months to contain the memory effect.
- If the runtime drops below 50% compared to new, it is time to replace the battery even if the appliance still works.
- Always use the original charger or one compatible with the same voltage and charging current specifications.
Common problems and solutions
Quick FAQs
Can I use a battery with a higher capacity than the original?
In principle yes, if the voltage is the same and the battery is physically compatible with the housing. A higher capacity extends runtime without damaging the appliance. Always check that physical dimensions and connector match the original.
How do I distinguish a Li-Ion battery from a NiMH?
Li-Ion batteries have cell voltages of 3.6–3.7 V (packs for vacuum cleaners are typically 14.8 V, 18.5 V, 21.6 V or 22.2 V). NiMH batteries have voltages of 1.2 V per cell (packs at 7.2 V, 12 V etc.) and are more common in shavers, epilators and compact hand vacuums. This information is on the battery label or in the appliance manual.
Can I replace the battery myself?
For cordless vacuum cleaners, the battery pack is usually accessible by disassembling the motor body with a screwdriver — on many Rowenta and Ariete models, this is a fairly simple operation. For shavers and epilators, replacement requires opening the casing and often desoldering the cell: if you have no experience with soldering, it is advisable to rely on a technician.
